The time between club meetings is a blank as far the latest news goes as most members are out of touch with events, who is flying where! how is the build programme going for a certain member?
Beginning January 2008, this page is intended to keep our members up to date with Club events and will hopefully receive contributions of photographs, events, gossip ect.
Just email me at the above email address with your contribution and if the content is not damaging to the club it will be included in our diary.

Sun 10th  Flying at Seaham, about 7 members.  Clear skies from 10.30am, no wind but the fog arrived off & on about 12 noon.  The IC guys left so the brave electric fliers carried on flying in ever decreasing circles as the mist closed in. A good day! '
Tue 12th  Flying at Seaham, about 5 members.  Was told  the weather was clear, warm with little or no wind. Rumor was that Nick took his coat off!   '

On ebay, enter "model safety" then click "radio control"
Hi Andrew, I've recently taken up model aeroplane flying and as part of equipment that I needed was a safety restraint to secure the model plane when starting it.
I was amazed when I tried to purchase one that there are no suppliers for this basic piece of kit. I have commissioned 100 safety restraints and currently have them advertised on ebay. I would like to advertise these units on your club web site at a discounted rate.
Please have a look at them by searching for safety restraints, under radio control, at the ebay web site. There is a slide show of the unit and a description of their construction.
I'm a member of the Newport model flying club and the BMFA and would like to thank for taking time to read this email and if this has been of interest look forward to your reply.

Wed 5th Called to collect the lawn mower at Grangetown but the solenoid on the starter was u/s and will take a few days to order and fit.  For the Glider Project,  flew the 14ft span delta kite in silly conditions (20 mph + ) winds. Don't know what the wind speed was at 500 ft.  The kite had been stored in the attic for over 10 years. It survived today due to my strong construction and luck. Some of the hem tape came adrift during the "flight"but it is only cosmetic and can be restored.  The trip did not prove anything except that the kite is strong enough and can carry the load we hope to place on it   .Video
Sat 8th   THE GRASS HAS BEEN CUT on our flying strip. Nick, Trevor & myself collected the grasscutter from Grangetown, working great!
Mon  10th Dave Goulding has taken over as Secretary of the TWFC following the resignation of Ian Russel. '
Fri 14th Flew the new club trainer (Avon) at Seaham in 12mph winds, also Trevor's Harmon Rocket flight.Tested the bungee using the Easystar. Had some canny take-offs until we got over confident and launched with too much stretch, result came down vertically.  Wing shoulder and rear of fuselage "damaged". Working full stretch to hopefully fly again tomorrow. Videos
Sat 15th Easystar repaired and flying well. Alex brought his Zagi for bungee launching, had a couple of launches then we noticed that the seagulls were soaring along the cliff edge, so we decided to have a go at soaring. Started with the Easystar, no problems except after half an hour of motorless flying my hands were numb. Later, with gloves,  I went down again with Alex and we had a great time even after he tried to knock me out of the sky. I later maidened the Graupner Cherry 2 (used to belong to old Jim), tried a hand launch, put in some left trim then had over half an hours test flight with the Graupner out-performing the Easystar and came down with 95% charge left in the 4,000 mAh battery pack. Video
Wed 19th Five members on site, four decided it was too cold to fly so five members went home.

Mon 5th Received Today   After a lengthy search I could'nt find a web ring designed mainly for BMFA/SAA members or for fliers in Eire so I have just set one up using Bravenet.
In my experience a web ring such as this can do wonders to increase your hit rate, fun if you are a flying club or an individual, essential if you run a business!

May I invite you to peruse
www.cheshirefalcons.co.uk, at the bottom of the Index page you will find the web ring reference.

Perhaps you would like to join us.?

Just a little note to respectfully ask if you would circulate my particulars to your club members.

I have been making foam wings for almost twenty years and offer competitive prices for unique own designs, plans or kit replacement wings. You may also have seen my adverts in the model magazines and currently in the BMFA journal
As a rough guide to price, a simple wing of 56” – 62” span will cost £35.00 including post and packaging. It will be made from medium density white foam, covered in grade “A” obechi with fibreglass joining tape also included as standard. As you know some wings are more complex than others and require holes for servos, wires, spars etc. They may be made from white or blue foam. I can also supply any wood required for the leading or trailing edges, undercarriage blocks, dowels, linkages for the ailerons etc, in fact everything for the wing.
I can also supply floats for seaplanes or foam sections for fuselages.

Payment can be made by either credit card or cheque and discounts are available should your club members require a few at the same time.
Please check out my website: www.billkits.com and e-mail: bpmanley@aol.com or phone: 01763 244397 for a quotation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from your club.

p.s. I originally started out with a small range of kits, which are still available today including, 2 Fun Fly’s, a little twin and 5 sport scale models.
